Objective

Professional drivers are required to partake in ongoing training to keep standards high and improve safety on the road. Every 5 years, you are required to complete 35 hours of this refresher training, or 7 hours per year.

An overview of the UK system of driver licensing, when & why it was introduced and the staged progression to higher categories and medical standards required for vocational licence holders.

The format of the EU driving licence is explained including the fields, expiry dates and renewal periods and it examines how the behaviour of drivers both in person and on the road can reflect on the image of the DVSA.

  • Vocational Driver Requirements
  • The Role of the DVSA
  • The Role of Traffic Commissioners including Operator Licensing
  • Driver Conduct & Records
  • Roadside Checks by DVSA & Police

Certification

The application of the system in a range of situations including at junctions & roundabouts, when overtaking and on the motorway will be discussed.

The session concludes with a knowledge check quiz.

Numbers

A maximum of 15 students can be accommodated on this course.

 
Combine this module with one of our other 3.5 hour modules to create a JAUPT approved seven hour Driver CPC course.
Both modules must be delivered on one day or in a 24 hour period to qualify for 7 hours CPC periodic training attendance.
